FAQ

PRODUCTS AND EMBROIDERY

Where Are Māk•a•boo Products Made?
Māk•a•boo purchases the highest quality baby gifts we can find, from all over the world. We embroider them on-site at our St. Louis, Missouri facility and ship them across the country. You can learn more about where each of our brands' goods are manufactured in the section on Our Brands.
Where Does Māk•a•boo Get Its Icons?
Māk•a•boo hires designers to create each adorable icon in our exclusive collection. These designs are one-of-a-kind — you won't find them anywhere else! We add new icons every few months, so there's always something fun and new to make each gift as special as the person it's being given to.
What If I Made A Spelling Error On My Gift?
Please contact us as soon as you realize you've made a spelling error of any kind. If your order has already been completed, we will work with you to correct the error. We want you to be happy with every Māk•a•boo!
How Many Font Choices Do I Have?
Depending on the fabric type of your gift, you'll have anywhere from two to ten font choices. On thicker fabrics like chenille, we limit the choices to thicker fonts that will stand out on the fabric, while on very fine fabrics like Pima cotton we limit choices to delicate fonts that don't run the risk of tearing the clothing.
Does Māk•a•boo Do Monograms?
Māk•a•boo hopes to add monograms to its embroidery options very soon! For now, we recommend selecting the "One Text Line" option when you choose a layout for your gift, then entering one, two or three letters to create your own monogram.

About Us

mākaboo Personalized Gifts was launched in St. Louis, MO in December of 2009 with the goal of becoming the nation’s premier online destination for high-end personalized children’s gifts. Since its launch, mākaboo has shipped gifts to all 50 states, and has been featured on Stroller Traffic, www.people.com and a variety of other local and national media outlets.

Since mākaboo is primarily an online retailer where customers cannot see and touch its products, the site features brands that moms already know and love – lines like Aden & Anais, Angel Dear, Bella Bliss, Kissy Kissy, and Swaddle Designs. We are proud to include our one-of-a-kind personalization experience, embroidery, and darling packaging free with all of our gifts.

About Makaboo's Founder

Cindy Teasdale McGowan, mākaboo’s founder, came up with the idea for mākaboo while working in the Product Group at Snapfish.com in San Francisco. She loved helping consumers to build tangible products with intangible software and thought no one was doing a fantastic job in the baby gift space.

In 2007, Cindy moved back to her hometown of St. Louis to be with her now-husband, real estate developer Bill McGowan. After a few stints at agencies in town, she decided to take the leap and start mākaboo.

Cindy graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 1998. She and Bill now live in St. Louis’ Central West End with their cat Me (who used to have a brother named Julio), within a few miles of 18 of their 23 nieces and nephews.
